Boston

Hello Friends-

Boston, somehow got an abscess and I have to say it was disgusting and it hurt. He could barely walk on it. He probably got it from all the rain and mud in the field. The poor boy had to stay in his stall for a week. He was good though even with his diaper he had to wear on his hoof! We also had to soak his hoof in warm water with epsom salt twice a day.

He’s back outside now. The vet gave him a quick check up and he healed well.

On another note, this is what happens when I step outside a minute!

Sven is always finding new things to do!

Well water problems continue…

This is not the well but it’s the old water tower. It was the source of water on the farm in the 19th century.

This is our well now. The pump is 150 feet deep.

The pump and the water contraption in the basement are both broken. We are now is the process of getting a whole new well. It will probably be next week. The good news is that he hooked up the new pump so we have water except in the barn. It’s a process for sure!

I heard a cute joke today. Why did the wedding cake go to the doctors.

Because he felt crummy!! hehehe

Stay safe if your in the hurricane path.

Is it Fall yet!

Two cords of wood all stacked!

It only took two days to stack all this wood! We were supposed to get the wood in November, but they called and had it ready early, so I took it and I’m glad it’s done.

Our wood stove was out getting fixed this summer because in late spring, the top popped off of it while it was burning and filled the house with smoke, nothing too major, the fire wasn’t roaring but I’ve never seen anything like this and surprisingly enough the wood stove was still guaranteed after 10 years because it was some sort of defect.

You can see in the picture below how the tile popped up.

I really can’t make this stuff up. On another note, my well broke last night so we have no water. The well company was closed today so I have a funny feeling we will be out of water for a week and my neighbor who is kind enough to let us use his well water so we could give the horses water and have it for the house.

More to follow on the on the well situation.

Hello Friends

As most of the country is suffering with the high heat, we’ve been getting nothing but rain with a few sunny days sprinkled in between the raindrops. I think summer is over for us until next year hopefully we will get warmer weather in September. Everything is waterlogged and even my pear tree didn’t have one pear on it, I think because it had too much rain.

For some reason, we have a lot of coyotes this year we see them in the horse field almost every night. They look healthy, but I don’t like them watching the horses. There’s nothing I can do about it though.

I am thinking we may have a lot of snow this year. If it follows the rain pattern, and with all the acorns that are on the ground but I’m not going to worry about that yet!

Stay safe-

Summer is finally here!

Although it’s been a very rainy season the flowers and trees are loving it! I have more weeds than ever before. My wise old friend told me that weeds are flowers and are just in the early stages of become something beautiful and I am sticking with that story.

The flowers are abundant with no rhyme or reason! I have to have over 500 hostas’s growing in and around the property. They are pretty but they run wild. Every year I say I’m going to dig them up and give them all away but then it just gets too much and I let them grow and multiply.

I did start a new job which has taken up all my time and it’s not going as well as I thought it would so I thought I’d just get back to doing what I enjoy the most, and not to worry about my job-maybe if I’m not so stressed things will go better.

Just a quick update on Chloe, she did move over to rainbow bridge. The broken leg was just too much for her, it was very sad because she was only 15 years old and a good mini horse.
