Hey, I\'m an amazing animal too!

Hey friends, Happy Friday!
Well, I couldn\’t believe my eyes, this week when I was visiting my
friend, Cathy, who is in hospice, I saw this skunk in front
of my car, now I freaked and jumped in my car.
Then it walked next door to the house across the street
and ate dinner! So the next night, I\’m back and so is the skunk…this time I had
my trusty camera. Now I\’m wondering if they feed this skunk
or it is just by coincidence. This is normally at dusk when I\’m
visiting Cathy so who knows…I want to knock on their door
but I don\’t want to get of my car :)..I\’m a big chicken when
it comes to skunks.
Truth be known, I\’m a big chicken to any wild animals, I love
them, but I try to avoid them. I give Fern tons of credit
for feeding her beloved raccoons. Every time she talks about
them, lovingly, I sit at the edge of my seat, but she says they
are all friendly…I have to somehow get over my fear of wild
creatures…the good news is, I rolled my window down and took
the pictures…now, that is step in the right direction!
Have a great day!

  1. I think it's important to have a healthy fear of, and respect for, wild animals. They are WILD ANIMALS, not house pets. I probably would feed them, too, if appropriate, but I wouldn't mistake them for tame, for domestic Beings.BTW, I wouldn't get out of the car and approach a skunk, either. The few times I've seen one here in town over the years, I've given them a wide berth. Don't want to be sprayed. LOL.

  3. We have a lot of skunks in our backyard by the forest line. I like them from a distance but my husband has done a lot of research on them and just loves them! RESPECT is needed for them — for sure!

  4. We have a family of skunks around here – Mom thinks they live on the mini-donkeys property. They only come around when it is dark so Mom is always afraid when we are out at night. Not fun trying to get THAT smell out of our thick coats.Woos – Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

  5. I've read on the internet that if their gland is removed and they can't spray, skunks are wonderful pets, much like cats; they are friendly, sweet, smart animals and great companions=how cool is that?!!…Sorry about your friend, Cathy; wishing her comfort and peace during this difficult time…Happy weekend and Happy Mother's Day to you, Deborah.

  6. Thanks for your kind words Debroah. I do have a respect for all wild critters. I feed a lot of them. The coons are not dangerous unless they are sick with rabies!!!! If you try to touch one that you do not konw really well he might take that as aggression, and try to bite you. He would only be protecting himself. But if you see a coon you don't have to be afraid of it. It is more afraid of you than you are of it!! They will not just see you and attack you.Unless it has rabies and you would know if it did!!!XXOO, Fern

  9. When mom was younger married woman, she and dad had a baby raccoon and a baby skunk. As the raccoon got older, he was mouthy and mom didn't like it and she made dad take it to a wildlife preserve. And as the skunk got older, mom got nervous and they let her go in the woods. Mom doesn't think that wildlife and domestic life should live in the same household, but that's just her opinion.Love ya lotsMaggie and Mitch
